This is not the first time I have used Spencer and once again he has not been a disappointment. I awoke on Christmas morning to find an unwelcome present: my central heating had broken down. Come Tuesday five days later, Spencer was in my house and out again within two hours, having fixed the problem (a synchronous motor needed replacing on the hot water tank upstairs – and he had one with him!) and also serviced my boiler downstairs. Oh, and he regenerated the air gap in my Megaflo at the same time. All of this was done at a very reasonable cost and without any seasonal surcharge. Somehow he manages to work very hard and be friendly at the same time.

Spencer recently got us out of trouble when the pump on the central heating failed at the weekend. Although he was fully committed at the time he kindly came at 8.30 am on the Monday morning. Our gas pipe going into our boiler was an old regulation size so we had to get it replaced with the correct size. This meant tracing it back to the gas meter from the boiler in our kitchen to the gas meter under our stairs in the middle of the house all under the floor. We'd never had any of the flooring up since we moved in over 15 years ago so no idea how to tackle this huge and daunting task! Spencer came around initially with some advice so that we could start to tackle the problem. We made a hole section in the floor ourselves in the kitchen so that Spencer could try to investigate the spaghetti junction of pipes underneath and with his experience was able to replace the gas pipe. This meant that we are now all clear and have passed the latest regulations. It was a very tricky task and previous trades that we spoke to before Spencer seemed very reluctant to take it on as there were many unknowns and a potential can of worms but Spencer's patience, experience and determination really helped us to get it sorted and a huge relief when it was done. We would highly recommend York Heating and Gas Services as excellent standard of work, helpful and friendly by keeping us updated with progress and very good value for money. Since the big gas pipe job Spencer has been back to service our boiler and fix a problem with a radiator not previously working - a testament to his excellent work.

Spencer is absolutely fantastic! He came to us when we were in turmoil with a half finished extension having been very let down by other trades. What a massive difference it made to find someone like Spencer, who has been nothing but a pleasure to have in our home - really friendly, always reliable and someone who has gone above and beyond, working with us to ensure we got exactly what we wanted. Spencer has undertaken all the gas and plumbing work we needed on our extension, which has included moving and fitting new radiators, extensive re-jigging of our boiler, installing our gas cooker and in doing all the plumbing work for our new kitchen and WC, including installing sink, WCs and taps. All of Spencer's work has been neat and tidy and to a really high standard which we have been really appreciative off and he even came to us the day before Christmas eve just so that we could get things finished off with our build in time for all the family to come over - we were so grateful. From now on, we will only use Spencer and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

After my gas had been turned off due to my CO2 alarm being activated I had a great deal of trouble locating a gas engineer who was able or willing to come out and check my appliances. Spencer was here within 2 hours and what a breath of fresh air he was. All my options were explained clearly and I decided to have a new boiler installed. With days to go until a visit from elderly relatives we had no heating or hot water and were getting desperate, having been unable to get our usual company to resolve the issues with our boiler. I am so delighted to have found Spencer. He diagnosed the problem and gave us very helpful, balanced and genuine suggestions about our options. We decided that replacing our old boiler was the best way forward and Spencer went out of his way to get it done for us in good time before our relatives arrived. He explained everything he was doing really clearly and was happy to answer my (embarrassingly basic) questions about how the system worked. Having been recommended Spencer, I have to say, I can see why, first refreshing thing is you can set your watch by him, so punctual, which in this day and age is rare. He was a really lovely chap, honest and really flexible and considerate. He was doing quite a big job for us removing our immersion tank, water tanks in loft boiler in kitchen cupboard and redoing all the piping so the new boiler could be installed in the loft. He worked very hard for 4days straight, I was shocked to see how much he had completed, and he just got right to the job, I didn’t barely seem him eat or take a break, considering he was doing 8.5hour days. The work was completed perfectly to time, and the house has never felt warmer. Another bonus was Spencer’s ability to keep everything tidy, he covered all carpets, and removed the dust cloths without being asked each evening, you would never know he had been! Would highly recommend Spencer, and would definitely reuse him in the future! Thank you Spencer!

Our boiler broke down and we were unable to get a British Gas engineer to repair it. Luckily, however, we found Spencer in the directory and he came straight over after finishing his current job. As other reviewers have said, he was incredibly professional and knowledgeable and was able to fit in our job and carry out the repair. We asked Spencer to install a new boiler, replace 4 radiators, flush the system and set up a new wireless thermostat. He was very professional, knowledgeable, hardworking, observed Covid19 rules and kept us informed as the work progressed. The work was carried out to a very high standard and the house was left tidy at the end of each day. He completed the job on time and at the price quoted, which was very reasonable. We have no hesitation in recommending Spencer and will be asking him to do further work for us.

We approached York Heating and Gas Services following recommendations from family members. From the start he was very helpful and it was clear he was well experienced and knowledgeable regarding works on boilers and heating systems. We required help incorporating our new underfloor heating to our existing combi boiler. This was done trouble free and to a high standard. Spencer was conscientious with his work and approach with us in our home. Even when he came across issues this was not a problem for him. A price was agreed upfront and was honoured. We are very happy with the works. During his time in our home he worked safely with regards to the current ongoing covid situation, wearing a mask, frequently sanitising his hands and observing social distance, again highlighting his professional approach to working.
