Martin knows his business - and also knows fellow skilled workers upon whom he can call to get a job done quicker than would be possible on his own. The internal painting in my home this last week, was of a high quality with every precaution taken to ensure possessions were out of the way and carpeting protected. Martin also happy to undertake other practical tasks, one of which - repairing a wide kitchen cabinet drawer - had only become necessary the evening before he was due to start painting. Definitely someone to whom I can turn in the future for all manner of practical household jobs.

Martin Kennedy, Handy Hands, repainted a mock Georgian style door front door frame and bow window frame very professionally and promptly, and in the process has to repair some rotten wood on the frame very skilful. He is an excellent painter and carpenter and I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Martin came in to my life at a critical point of domestic upheaval several years ago, which had resulted in considerable disorder and presenting a major challenge of repair, removal, restoral and redecoration, which was tedious and sometimes even unsavoury!

He worked consistently with the great good humour and efficacy to the highest standards and the result created a space that was both an aesthetic and practical  triumph.

Since then, he has become an essential part of my support system in maintaining the upkeep of the household, with his expertise, attention to detail and respect for the environment, with a wide variety of skills and much valued concern for my welfare.

Martin has literally 'made a difference' to my life!

As I told you when we had our first vivid conversation, these past 2 years have been tough, the rat infestation being the last straw and I was in dire need of support and remedy at several levels.

On reading the description of the 'small family business' in my wonderful Little Green Book, I somehow sensed that this might be the answer to my somewhat complicated and multifaceted problem, since it comprised some unsavoury 'cleansing' of the basement space (where the 10 weeks of rodent activity had taken place) followed by decisions as to what could be retained and what had to be discarded, and where to.

Then the making good, redecorating  and most poignant of all -  restoring the distinctive 'character' of the space, which had in the past been my weaving workplace, having once been referred to as 'Aladdin's cave' and still retained elements of those happy days and a special atmosphere, all of which had been defiled by the rats.

So there was a real challenge for Martin to help me in this transformation and it was quite amazing that he absolutely understood and respected this.

He set about the practical demands with great energy and focus and once the space was cleared, he made imaginative  and relevant suggestions as to arranging and furnishing, using his carpentry skills and innate sense of design to complement and interpret the overall 'vision' I had, of how it should turn out to be.
