My Peugeot 3008 had some particularly perplexing problems with what turned out to be the electrics. Steve & Co went above and beyond in getting to the root of the problem and getting it fixed. Steve really persevered with it when many others would have said it has to go back to the main dealer. He clearly explained to me all of the things he was doing and answered all my questions in a way that I could understand - I feel I now know all about ECU's, BSI's & fuse boxes! Have absolutely no hesitation in recommending CAE.

I found Steve and his son possibly via the Green Book - I don't remember - after the local Mitsubishi garage closed whom I'd entrusted my car with for years. I can honestly recommend Steve and his son for very good workmanship, knowledge and expertise, and honesty. They work with cars from old classics to newer cars that come with computer wizardry. I suspect that their success (always busy) comes from their capability but also their honesty. I trust them implicitly with my car. Steve has been kind and considerate to me and his son is the same. I have OCD and Steve decided to drive both his courtesy car and mine with gloves on and a seat and footwell cover. A minor thing for the more normal of customers, but I feel that shows his respect for his customers. A courtesy car is standard practice for Steve and his son. They will collect your car from your home and leave an insured car for you to use. I've had reason to be very grateful to Steve. He always tries to keep cost to a minimum and he recently looked at my car after a collision incident, when I was scared and worried, and he said 'come now' and refused to take any payment for being able to tell me that he saw no damage after his inspection. He even topped up my water coolant while I was with him briefly, free of charge. I do believe that these men are the real deal trustworthy decent mechanics who know their business is built on word of mouth, but I think they are honestly just decent good people by nature. I'm a stressy person (therefore potentially difficult customer) but Steve took my daft concerns in his stride and did his best to make me feel comfortable re taking, fixing and returning my car. He had no reason to be extra kind to me but he has been. I would recommend his business to anyone. He and his son offer the kind of business our cynical world (for good reason) can learn great lessons from. Look after your customers, be helpful, reasonable, even kind - throw in some natural good humour you don't even know you are offering because it's how you are. But most importantly know your trade well and do a class job for your customer. My car is working better than ever now. I will be sticking with Steve and his son at CAE until I move right away from their customer zone. Highly recommended.

I was rather painfully overcharged by main dealer for a 40,000 mile major service ('we're a business') and neither did they want to be bothered at that time to investigate the fluctuating water (and apparently low oil) temperature readings on my Peugeot 207 car. I decided to appoint CAE to investigate the temperature issue as a neighbour uses them for his car servicing and should have used them in the first place and got servicing done as well! Steve fixed the thermostat problem but then then had to do the job again because the initial replacement thermostat housing spec. soon caused the fan to come on and the warning lights to appear. Steve willingly took my nightmare issue/car back, sorted the problem with a revised-spec component and returned car to me after he was 100% satisfied the problem had been fixed. Steve is personable, CAE charges are fair and definitely went the extra mile to secure brownie points. I would recommend.

I contacted Steve Carr because I had an intermittent fault with my VW Polo which was just out of warranty. I had taken it to VW Ridgeway in Reading and they were unable to sort out the problem, even though they kept the car for two days! Steve collected the car from my work address and kept me fully informed throughout. After extensive diagnostics he found the fault, installed the updated software and returned the car to me within a day and a half. He also asked me to drive the car for a few days before paying him to ensure the fault was solved! Highly recommended and will definitely use again.

I used Steve Carr (CAE) for the first time to carry out a clutch repair to my Ford S-Max. He was very courteous and responsive - he even replied to a missed call from me! Steve gave me a very competitive quote which included a years' warranty and collection and return of the vehicle. This involved towing the car from my home address. The maintenance was completed in very good time (as promised) and I am very satisfied with the work. I would have no hesitation in using Steve again and would highly recommend his services.
